Stroller not working well...advice?

Options
I purchased a used Bugaboo on Ebay on the 1st September, it arrived on the 8th and seemed in good condition so I left positive feedback.

I've just started using it and I'm having a lot of bother putting it up and down, I feel like I'm going to break it because it sticks and makes a load cracking noise :S

Now I now that this item is used but a relative have the same stroller and she has no problems like this, I actually bought it because it was so easy to get in and out of the car unlike my icandy which didn't even fit!

So my question is where do I stand? I want to contact paypal and try getting a part refund as the listing didn't state any problems.

Thanks

There is nothing at all to stop you opening a SNAD claim on paypal. Assuming you win then you would need to return the stroller, fully tracked an dboxed at your own expense for a refund. I think most sellers now prefer not to do partial refunds as it can be seen as encouraging people who just want a bit off the price, so be prepared to pay to send the whole lot back.

The fact that you've already left positive feedback doesn't affect your ability to raise a dispute.

First off, I'd try emailing the seller, explaining the problems you're having and then see what they say. They may or may not be happy issuing a partial refund.

However, if you don't have any success, then you can raise a 'Not as described' dispute with Paypal. Unfortunately, this will probably mean that you will have to send it back and get a full refund (minus your postage back to the seller). I don't think there's a facility within a Paypal dispute to get a partial refund, but someone else might be able to correct me.

Then again, playing devil's advocate, look at it from the seller's point of view. You've received the stroller and given positive feedback. A week later, after you've been using it, you now complain. Unless they knew of the problem, they'll probably think you've been mistreating it and now want some money back. So don't be surprised if they aren't happy to co-operate on the partial refund front. However, none of this will matter if you still go on and raise a Paypal dispute.

Took so long thinking about this and typing it, Soolin has beaten me to it!

Percy - I suppose that's worth a shot :) if no joy then I'll email the seller and ask if they had any problems.
