Overcharged at a bar

I was recently in Windermere where I went to a bar with some friend to buy a drink. I purchased my drinks where the drinks came to around £15 but today I checked my bank account to find that even though the total was £15 my card was charged £56.40.

What would be the best way about getting the difference back?

I do not have the receipt.

regards,
Jake

contact the bar, but without the receipt, you're going to be hard pressed to get anything.

they might have cctv up and be able to see that you didn't order that many drinks.

you didn't notice such an amount on the card terminal when you put your pin in or when you got your receipt?

  • No unfortunately I was too busy chatting :( Is there no legalities to them giving my money back?

well, if you can prove beyond doubt that you didn't order £56 worth of drinks, you should get your money back. it's just getting that proof.

contact the bar though, see what they say. they may be able to search the transaction from the day and amount given (can't be too many bar bills at over £56) and marry the time up with CCTV

Sometimes this happens with us when tabs have been joined together etc
We always investigate every claim as any bar should

  • *** Update ***

Just called the bar and they are going to look into it. They have said that they were over that day so most likely will find the bill. They are going to ring me back so I will keep you updated.
