HI all
I wondered if anyone would be able to help with a situation i am in!
Scottish power used to supply me with gas and electric until i switched to powergen in june 2006.
I recieved a final bill for gas from scottish power in august up to the cut off date of 16/6/06. I paid around £206.
I then recieved another bill in September (this said final bill) cancelling those charges and then recharging me . The reading was a removed reading?
Although i did not realise it at the time it left me approx £120 in credit.
A few days ago I recieved another final bill cancelling the last lot of charges and recharging me again with a removed reading? I now owe them another £45 after the amount i was in credit was used to pay off the rest!
I am so confused...one as to why they can send me a bill in January 07 when the account was switched in June 06 and secondly as to what the removed readings were and how they can all of a sudden change !
I look forward to your replies!

Your first bill from Powergen will show a first reading on changeover. Check that your final bill from Scottish Power has the same final reading (or less by 1). If it has and you can prove you paid the correct amount to settle any underpayment on your account then write to Scottish Power complaints department. If the readings don't match then this may be where the adjustments are arising.0

Just be happy you are no longer with SP the worst run ,most incompitant company in history.0

Hi
Thank you both for your responses. Unfortunately i seem to have misplaced the old bills. But yes they are extremely incompetant....i once had a bill for around £2000 because they had read the wrong meter!
Unfortunately i do not have a great deal of time to ring around tracing this that and the other so i have left it down to them and have told them that they will have to do all the work as i refuse to pay a bill 7 months over due....after all i did give them meter readings on the changeover!0 -
I`ve had a similar thing happen with BG. I moved my account last may and it took then till Christmas to send me a bill for £100, when I thought I`d paid the all that was due.
Be careful that you have cancelled the direct debit you had with them, as BG tried to take this money from my account with two days notice.
Can you phone and get final and start off readings from both companies, this is what a MSE`er recommend I do.
I wouldn`t trust them to get back to you - after a very long phone call to BG and a promise to look into it - all I got was a final demand to pay, though I have negoiated three months to pay it over.
Also if the bill is correct make sure they are charging the fuel cost as it was then, not now.
Good luck and I hope there is nothing to pay.0
