Hi everyone,
Hope someone is able to help. Me and my other half have both fallen in love with these invites (we;re getting married next New Years Eve so these would be perfect!:

Unfortunately, they are from Anmerica and cost a fortune. I've emailed companies in the UK who again, have cost an arm and a leg! We only need about 20 invites but have been quoted £500 upwards!!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know anyone with design software? (InDesign, QuarkXPress etc)? You could ask them to do a similar design and get the printed at Kall Kwik or Vistaprint? That's what I'm hoping to do - 500 quid for a few invitations is ridiculous! Or you could buy some goods from Hobbycraft and copy the design? x0

How crafty/creative are you Tammy? Would you feel able to do them all yourselves?0

How about a basic design and asking local printers???? xAccept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue. Only fools are statues every day. (15.09.12 cant wait!)0

Hi Tammy86,
Might be able to help you out, my mum does wedding stationery and could easily do a design like the second link (http://sincerelyyoursonline.blogspot.com/2010/11/suzanne-jeff-wedding-invitation.html)
Is it this new year's eve (2011) or next (2012)?
What is your colour scheme?

I'm pretty crafty, but it's the fact that the ones I like, the fireworks seem to be indented (sorry don't know the right words) hence the high cost!
Pennies, thanks, I'll PM you.0 -
To do the indents you would need to buy an embossing press and stencils. They are pretty expensive but a lot cheaper than 500. Alternatively, you could do raised printing using a different kind of embossing kit where you stamp your design on and then sprinkle special pigment that raises with a heat gun. That would probably cost about £40 to buy all the equipment.
Hope that this makes sense.0 -

Hi Ashtray,
Where do you buy the items from? Can you buy them from places like Hobbycraft?
I'd rather do the indents but the embossing could be interesting.0 -
Hobbycraft should sell everything you need to emboss. You get a little pen like thing with a ball on the end and a stencil and literally press into the card with the pen.
Heat embossing could look nice though with it being fire works because you could get a nice silver coloured embossing powder which would sparkle.
you would use a stamp like this to do the heat embossing

Drop me a PM if you want any more help. I do a lot of invites/cards etc

I do wedding stationery, but they wouldn't be as detailed and good as the ones you have seen on the American websites...they probably have a proper software that can emboss print designs on to card, hence the price of the cards!
Why not go for a simple design and save yourself some pennies, at the end of the day they will either get lost by people, or they get thrown away after your wedding or lost over the years by people. Just a thought.
PM me if you need any ideas or would like me to get involved in making some invites for you
