Using the Job centre site for job search

Am using the Job centres website to look for jobs and its crap imo, ive searched by using my local town and my postcode and everytime i get a load of jobs vacancies for towns which are not even close to where i live eg I live in gloucestershire and i get job vacancies for Exmouth, Newton Abbot, Durham and Gretna, these are not within 10/15 mins of driving, if you search using your postcode you can select a distance of so many miles for it to look for for jobs, its just total !!!!, has anyone else found this,
im not just using the job centres site for searching, im registered on our local papers jobs section, i look in the jobs section that comes with the paper and just keep my ear to the ground

I stopped using the machines ages ago. They came up with jobs in Wick - I asked for local jobs in Suffolk. When you sign on though, I`d advise you to tell the staff that you have been using their fabulous terminals but couldn`t find anything.

What sort of job are you looking for?
  • The JC staff can use their labour market system on their computers to do a more detailed search. Having said that, depends how much time they have between signers. Sometimes only allowed 5 mins.
Internet a better option, monster, fish etc
You can if you think you can!
  • I know how you feel C_Ronaldo the Jobcentre Plus website is pathetic.

I now use http://jobseekers.direct.gov.uk which has a far better search engine

Yes - the jobcentre plus website is nearly a complete waste of time for a jobsearch...

You get loads of search results that don't match the criteria you input - such as jobs 100's miles from where you live - it's frustrating and not at all helpful...

Sorry but have to disagree. Alright it might come up with jobs further than you want but if you search by postcode + 10/15 miles it will give the nearest first. It's up to you to go thru the list and check which are most relevant?

actually it used to be quite good until they last reconstructed their site. i agree now it is carp. best solution enter the places furthest away from you and then vacancies will come up near you. lol. :)
