Storm damage

Can someone explain the need for home insurance?
I awoke 2 weeks to water coming in through our bedroom ceiling. I phoned the Bank, who explained to me to try and get a quote and if necessary a quick repair. I got the quote, gave it to the 'Loss assessors,' then heard nothing for 2 weeks!
Therefore I phoned the Bank yesterday to be told, 'That according to the Loss assessors. The damage was caused through normal erossion.' The fact that we had suffered an horrendous thunderstorm the previous day, was not taken into account!'
How can they make such a decision, if NO ONE (apart from my roofer) had even been onto my roof? Any advice in how I can persue this further?

It would appear that the loss assessor thought the damage was due to simple disrepair rather than storm damage. What work was included in the quote?0

You might get more help if you post this on the Insurance board...0

Tiles had been dislodged (Supposedly in the storm) and a couple of other possible factors. I don't have the quote available to see exactly what he had put. You can't view the damage from the ground, due to it being in a 'Valley.'0 -
Phone your Insurance Company and insist on speaking to a supervisor loss adjustor, give them your postcode & explain there was a storm. I the meantime contact the Insurance Ombudsman, but before all this - get a repair carried out, even if a temporary repair whilst you fight your battle. Good luck. That's what I would do anyway.
I had substantial storm damage to my roof some years ago, and battled initially, took it further (higher) and they couldn't have been more helpful. Ended up getting the Roofing Federation involved along with their assessors.0
