Digital Switchover - Sutton Coldfield/Central

Options
Mums TVs can't pick up Yesterday or the HD channels. (Yes she brought a new Sony HD /freeview HD telly last year).

All other channels appear to be OK.

I know relatives and friends close by can as I have set them up.

When I spoke to the digi help desk last year they said it was because certain channels had been included in a "tuning band", outside some older aerials, but they would be pulled back into the normal spectrum at switchover.

The first interim switch has occurred occurred on the 7/9.

Full switchover is due 21/9.

Whilst Yesterday still isn't received the "on screen guide" does know that the HD channels are available when you switch to them, they just aren't visible.

I have asked mum to be patient but does anyone know how valid the digi helpdesk comment was?

Or should I be looking out an aerial installer?

Edited some need a "factory reset", but having re-read your post has mum got a HD TV with a HD tuner in it? if it hasn't then HD channels won't show up

Yes it is HD/HD Freeview. It was certainly sold as such and I did double check last year when purchased. I was looking at a larger version, of same model, for myself prior to purchase as well.

  • This may help http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/when_do_i_switch/central/sutton_coldfield allthough it has confusing advice about group B ariels, either 15 or 40 channels?

I have a Humax freeview box which recently failed to find all channels. Restoring it to factory default settings solved it. I would wait and see.

Has she done a full retune after stage 1?
She'll have to wait another week (and do another retune) to get the full channel line up including the HD channels after stage 2 of the switchover.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Yep I have done the first re-tune.

My strategy has always been lets see what it is like after the final switch over and re-tune.

Unfortunately every telephone call turns into a strategy review bless her cotton socks.:(
