  • Some cameras have a physical focus on the cam, twist the lens etc Grease on lens? Do you have the right drivers installed? Might get a better resolution What does this site have against carriage return !!! arg

Based on what? Are Microsoft responsible for the bandwidth settings the other end is using?

Why do people make such moronic statements? Microsoft have nothing to do with this at all.

From the OP's post, it seems he is unhappy with the quality of the image coming from the webcam at the other end, not the picture from his own.

Yes, get your contact to clean the lens on their webcam and, if it is one that has a focus ring on it, get them to check that they have it focussed properly. You can also ask them if they are seeing the picture from their webcam clearly and, whether it is as clear as the picture you are sending to them.

Another point - lighting has a lot to do with the picture quality. If they are sitting in a gloomy room, the picture will be grainy and discoloured - get them to put a brighter light on or sit facing a well lit window with the camera between the window and them. If they sit with the window behind them, the software will stop the exposure down to account for the bright light and they will appear as silhouettes or grainy shadows.

If the picture you receive is of poor quality there is little you can do from your end - you need to get them to check it out at their end.

ah you've answered my query!! yes the picture they see is perfect but the one I see is poor. So it's the webcam at the around end to blame. I'll ask them to try your suggestions! thanks

also the picture they see of themselves is fuzzy!

Tell them they need to re-install Windows because you said Microsoft was to blame...
