CSA Im thinking of changing to paying this

Hiya im new and im hoping i can get some advice on here
Ok so ive got a 7 year old son, me and the ex split up when he was about 2 we have always had an agreement on me paying £80 per month and plus buying clothes etc, but just lately shes gone very nasty on me and asking for £120 + now i can afford it at the moment but when i rent a flat il have no chance! so theres no way i can pay this every month.
Im thinking of going to CSA and pay through them but what im concerned about is they will back date me and il have no proper evidence of me ever paying the money to her every month, but on CSA it works out about £80 per month on a £1,000 (after tax) wage or will i get stung to pay more?
any one in a similar boat?
thanks

You should pay 15% of net income for one child, 20% for two children, and 25% for three or more children. This is reduced if you have any children living in the same household as you, even if they are a partner's and not yours. it is also reduced by one seventh if you have your child for 52 nights a year, or by two sevenths if you have him for 104 nights a year.
If you take home pay is £1000, you should be paying £150 a month - assuming no other children in your household and fewer than 52 nights a year spent with you.
CSA do not take into account your housing costs (unless your case was opened before March 2003).
If there is currently no case open with the CSA, they will not backdate liability, so you should not have to pay any arrears.
Instead of saying that you might be stung to pay more, why not think of it as contributing to the child you helped to bring into the world? It is only fair that you pay for his upbringing.0 -
am i right in thinking only the PWC can open a case with the CSA? please correct me if im wrong?0

because im affraid most of it doesnt get spent on the child! id rather spend more on clothing him at least i know hes benifiting
thanks for the info though0 -
How do you know it isn't benefitting your child? Is he housed, clothed and fed? Does he have heating and lighting? Baths/showers? School uniform?
There is another thread on the Benefits Board about a dad who wants to be sure that the child support he pays is spent on the child, but he does pay much more child support than you. You only pay £20 a week, which really doesn't go far.
The CSA will not take into account any money that you spend on savings, clothing, pocket money, etc for the child. They will only take into account the actual amount paid to the PWC.0 -

The CSA no longer back date as far as I am aware they go from the date of application, what I am usure of is why you think it is okay to pay your child's mother a mere £20 per week to bring up a child!!!!
What is even more ridiculous is that you are worried about having only £880 per month to rent a flat, try paying school meals, uniform, clothes, shoes, and anything else your child needs alongside paying gas electric, fuel, travel, water, council tax, rent/ mortgage etc etc to cover the basic needs of your child then divide this by 2 sure it would cost more than the £30 per week their mother is asking which is generous considering you should be paying more than that!!!!!
And you are afraid most of it is not being spent on the child!!!!!!!!! why are they squatting????Mort July 2008 £65000..Mortgage July 2010 £63848
Mortgage June 2012 £54500:T chip chipping away.0 -
Poor guy, just came on for some advice and you's are giving him cr*p!
The mother was happy with £20 a week up untill recently so don't have a go at him about it!! He is only asking for some advice. You's should all get of your high horses and stop judging!!0 -

I don't believe that is true...unless things have changed, why would a NRP not be able to open a case?
http://www.csa.gov.uk/en/setup/who-can-use-csa.asp
which reads "
Who can apply for maintenance through the CSA?
A parent or person with care or a non-resident parent can ask us to work out child maintenance and set up a payment arrangement."0 -
wrong.

If you're going to be rude then perhaps it's you who needs to get your facts straight.
A PWC can open a case to receive maintenance or an NRP can open a case to pay maintenance.
Believe me, I'm in a position to know that this is 100% fact.0
