Factors affecting cost of buying a car

Bearing in mind the various points that affect the cost of a car, tax and insurance bracket, engine size etc., what would be the cheaper new automatic cars avaiable on the market at the moment?

  • Mondeo? For some strange reason its cheaper to insure a mondeo than a small hatchback.

So it may cost more in road tax, But everything else is cheaper. Saving £100+ a year.

  • I was thinking of something cheaper to buy in the first place aswell. A Mondeo is almost twice the price of some other cars.
  • Swings and roundabouts, Cheap to buy but may have poor fuel economy or a high tax or insurance group.

Just have to accept motoring is like a bottomless pit.

I spend around £2000 on a new car, Approx 4 years old, Usually one owner company or lease, Usually high miles
but serviced on the dot and many more miles left in it.

150,000 miles on my car but its in better condition than some 40,000 - 70,000 mile cars i looked at. Low mileage
is not everything. Overall condition means more. I only give the mileage a quick look after i have already decided
    to buy it.
