Potterton Puma Boiler- HELP!

I hope someone might be able to give me some help.

We have the worse boiler in the world and the pressure often goes... I've recently been taught to fix it by release some (water?) pressure by turning a tap and waiting til the pressure gauge gets to 1.5

Anyway, the hot waters gone again but this time followed by lots of spluttering from the taps when i turn the hot with no water initial (then just cold).

I went to turn the tap again and *think* that its been in the wrong position, thus letting loads of pressure come(or go or whatever turning the tap does on the boiler).

Anyway, this is probably only a question that is specific to my home but does anyone know if the normal closed position for the pressure tap is vertical or horizontal??

Im sorry I can't be more technical!

I would really like some hot water though!!

Thanks,

Kaz

    Thanks jhe!

Its so frustrating. A plumber came out a while ago that said its one of the worse ever made boilers- which I would certainly agree with!

Thought I'd try here as hoped the MSE world would include plumbers :-) And I'm already registered.

As it is, I've put the black lever back to the position I *think* it should be in and now, maybe 15, 20mins later, I ran the hot water and got some... Am crossing my fingers!

  • if they are black levers on the isolation valves then open is facing along the pipework and closed is across the pipe ie making an L it sounds like youy have it sorted but i would try to find out how your losing pressure either you have a leak, your PRV is letting by or your pressure vessel is losing pressure and either needs repressurising or is us
