PPI refund offer received, need advice please!!

Hi, I have posted this on the successes forum but as I haven't received a reply I think this is the wrong place!!Just a quick question; In brief, had Tesco credit card since 2000, with PPI. Tesco agree I was mis-sold PPI and offered a very nice refund. They state that 'I would like to offer you a refund for your ppi from December 2003. This is the earliest available payment date we hold on record for your account. If you can provide any earlier card statements which show ppi, please submit these and I will be happy to review our offer'. As another kind post added, I have the original application which shows PPI was added in 2000, so surely this should count as 'evidence'? And surely it is up tp Tesco to provide this information, they must have it on record when I was paying PPI? If it was taken out at the time of application then this proves somewhat that I have been paying since 2000? I have today phoned them, and they say that as there is no evidence of the amount I had paid between 2000 and 2003, they cannot offer me a refund for this period, but only for the period 2003 to 2011. I was obviously paying out so what should I do about these 'missing years'? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! , Also, does anyone know that if you do not accept the first offer and ask them to consider to review the offer, is there a risk of losing the first offer altogether? Sounds daft, I know, but I don't want to tempt fate. Good news like this doesn't happen to me often so I'm kind of expecting it to go wrong somewhere! Please help, Tesco admit they mis-sold so surely I should receive something for those missing years? Thanks so much!

    HI Santob
    I think you are getting mixed up with the different groups you have received several answers on https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1460775 I was wondering why you hadn't responded:beer:

    Good Morning Santob
    Pleased to hear you have the original application form and I am fully in agreement with you.
    May I suggest to you to ensure you get a swift answer to supplementary questions to responses you use the quote button to post the question.(note to self, practise what you preach)
    I am quite sure that they have full details of your history BUT lets humour them and accept that they don't.
    In your position I would send an E-Mail to the CEO of Tesco ( Sorry I don,t have the details but someone will ) politely pointing out that you have the evidence they require and asking them how to proceed.
    .
    Al so, does anyone know that if you do not accept the first offer and ask them to consider to review the offer, is there a risk of losing the first offer altogether? This is exactly the physcology the banks are employing . As I pointed out in my original post, depending on your balances it is quite possible the previous five years could well outstrip the offer you olready have.
    They are putting the onus on you to challenge their decision and have in effect said that if you can prove the earlier existance of PPi they will review it.
    You are fortunate in that you have that evidence and by bringing to the attention of the CEO as I suggest will ensure a swift and sucessful result :money: Last edited by offcumd
  • I would be inclined to include a sumary of the relevent facts in an E-Mail to the Ceo http://www.!!!!!!/ from your original post
    Advice needed, please; Think we have a claim....

    Dear all, I am hoping someone can tell me if this claim is worth chasing or not;
    My partner has a Tesco creditcard since 1998. Realised he has been paying PPI from the start and sent off for copies of paperwork using one of the templates. Today received copies (4 weeks after they received request) and very unsure. It is a usual looking application form, with only one very short paragraph saying "I agree to the PPI..etc etc". there is a tick in this space (however, me being very suspicious as my other half never takes out these things!) the tick does not look anything like the other ticks on the form (could be completely genuine). That aside, the attached information does not tell him what was covered, what was not covered and any other terms. So if he did tick this, he had absolutly no idea what he was really signing up for. The other point is that it states in bold type "WE STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO TAKE OUT THIS PAYMENT PROTECTION" Am I right in thinking this may be mis-selling?
    Another very important point is that as he has no information as to what is covered etc it is hard to check if these following points count as mis-selling;
    He was employed at the time of application and would have received full sick pay if struck by accident or illness.
    During the time of having the card, he then went self-employed. There was no mention that he would have needed to keep Tesco informed as the PPI may not have been of any use (but again, due to very little info in the documents we do not know if he would have been covered or not).
    He also had a pre-existing medical condition (asthma, which has now unfortunatly increased to chronic pulmanary disease) we we do not know would have been covered or not.
    Tesco claim they received the request for copies on the 2nd June. I sent the request on the 22nd May, also including an instruction to cancel the ongoing PPI. Suprise, suprise the latest statement still has the £95 PPI payment added, and the letter contains no acknowledgement of this being cancelled. A phone call will be made to sort this out, but I am hoping someone can read these notes from a 'non-biased' point of view to see if it is worth a claim.
    Tesco have sent us copies of everything we should have received at time of application/agreement and we are still in the dark.
    Many thanks for taking the time to read all of this
    This should ensure a quick reponse :D
