Today I have received a reminder from the DVLA, regarding renewing the tax disc. The tax disc will run out a the end of this month.
If I renew it tomorrow, will the tax disc say 14/09/2012, or 30/09/2012?
It always shows the last day of the month, so in this case it will be 30/09/2012.0 -
equally it will not be VALID until 1st october0
-
Will you be able to do it tomorrow? I'd have thought the 15th is the earliest.0

I just tried (and failed) to renew my tax online and it told me that my car was uninsured.
A quick check of my insurance certificate backed up with a search on askMID confirms that it is. :huh:0 -

Is your policy about to expire?
The insurance needs to be in force on the day the tax comes into force - not the day you buy it.
If the policy is not due to renew this month, then you could short circuit this issue by renewing the tax at a post office with your documents.0 -

Yes, I had another look at it and it and I suspect that is the reason. A bit daft really as I already have the follow on policy in place but the system isn't quite clever enough to pick that up.0 -

I used to have a similar problem with the MOT so ended up paying for 6 months tax one year so they didn't clash. Not really MSE I know as it cost more that way, but it's much easier renewing the tax online than trying to find my insurance certificate (never can remember what safe place I put it in!) then trying to find a parking space at the nearest PO that does car taxI want my sun-drenched, wind-swept Ingrid Bergman kiss, Not in the next life, I want it in this, I want it in this
Use your imagination, or you can borrow mine!0 -

I always make sure they're separate, it makes it a heck of a lot easier to budget for! (which is mse as far as I'm concerned)0
