    Personally I find checking the bulbs every week or two saves you looking like a prat and risking a FPN.

    Great advice, I checked an old vw transporter works van I was driving yesterday and discovered whoever replaced a bulb on it recently had put the cover on the wrong way around. It meant the brake lights were flashing when I indicated right and when the head lights were on the right hand reversing light was on...
