Glow plug warning light- Kia Sedona

Had problems with this a few times with the wire breaking. You get a flashing curly wire on the dashboard.

What exactly is not working if this is flashing? Is it the glow plug pre-heater or something?

If so, what are the consequences because the car starts no problem at the moment? Is it just to pre-heat them in cold weather?

You're best off with a proper check to see if it's just one glow plug that's down, or a wiring/relay fault as you've had before.

You're correct that you'll struggle more in colder weather to start - better to get it checked before then!

If its like most other cars the flashing glowplug light does not mean there is a fault with the glowplugs.

It usually means there is a fuel system or turbo fault. Needs a fault code reader on it.

Quick call to a dealer or specialist will confirm reasons for the fault. Maybe it does point to a faulty
glowplug on yours.

Ive seen this issue twice with a Kia Sedona, both times it was a faulty glow plug. Its not too big of a job and quite easy for a mechanic to test each plug individually.

(of course this does not mean its the problem for definite, its an educated guess!)

Definitely caused by the earth wire. Smelled burning one day and opened the bonnet to see this wire must have shorted and melted (it was still warm).

I would remove the main feed wire and use that to run a heavy duty relay for each glowplug.

With each plug having its own feed it should cure the problem or tell you if one of them is shorting
out.
