Problem At Barratts Shoes - Read On

I bought a pair of shoes from a Barratts store in Birmingham towards the end of July, only wore them a few times then they split. When I bought them they were part of a big Barratts sale and I even have the yellow and black sale tag that came with them, anyway, I went in there last week and spoke to the manager who said "oh without the reciept all we could do is give you the a refund to what they are worth now" With that, she looked at the shoe and tried to tell me they were not purchased from that store as they don't do that range and intact on the tounge inside it said Matalan. I told her that I did buy them from there and she said "well you will need to find the reciept then". At home I managed to find the shoe box and inside was the reciept so today I went back to the store and the same manager was there and she kept on saying I had bought them from there when if course I know I did. She proceeded to take me the the upper level of the shop and show me on the screen the shoes that that box/receipt match, now not only are these shoes I didn't buy then, I have never bought any like them. So she wouldn't change her mind so my next port of call was to phone their customers services, I gave them the outline story without naming the shoes etc. They toom my name and number and said they would call me back. They did call back and basically it was just like listening to the manager in the shop again, I wasn't getting anywhere at all so I told the lady on the phone, I'm already being called a liar as you are saying I didn't but the shoes in the shop but now I'm all but being accused of fraud because if they are saying the shoes are not from there and I'm taking them back there wouldn't that be fraud? I said to her, I am the one out of pocket here, I am the one who is being told shoes I knew I bought there I didn't. I work with fraud in my job so I am not going to be accused of it let alone actually commit it. I'm not sure what step to take next, seems a bit drastic to get the police involved but what are my options?
Thanks in advance,

Doesn't make much sense to me, why would barrats sell you Matalan shoes. Looks like you have mixed up your purchases somehow. Even if you haven't you have little hope of resolving this. The box and receipt relate to different shoes and your not going to convince them otherwise.
Police won't be interested in a civil matter so no point in even mentioning them.0
