Restoring Thunderbird

I had to rebuild my PC - so backed all of my data up, including my Thunderbird profile (.PCV) - I am now unable to restore this data - Mozbackup is telling me that the data is not a valid ZIP archive

You have not done a GOOGLE !

    Problems restoring with MozBackup?

If you get a "Zip file could not be opened" error message use 1.5 alpha1 of Mozbackup to restore it. This is a known problem that should be fixed in version 1.5 of Mozbackup.

If you are having problems restoring a ".pcv" backup file that you created with MozBackup and nothing seems to work, keep in mind that the ".pcv" file is actually a normal ".zip" file.
    1. Rename the backup file from "*.pcv" to "*.zip".
    2. Extract (unzip) the ".zip" file into a convenient location. If you look inside the unzipped folder you will see your mail folders, address books and the other files that make up your profile folder.
    3. Manually restore/migrate this unzipped profile folder as described here.

You could try creating a new profile and try to do it that way!

Close firefox , then type in the run box ... firefox.exe /p ... this should open the profile manager.
Create a new profile from here , then use Mozbackup to try and re-create your old one!

Did you not click the link in my post #3 above in blue "described here" ?

Extract all your files from the pcv file to a seperate folder. (As I said it is a zip file, change the extension name to .zip.)

    or Read this

Then start from item 7 if you have done the above.

The information is all there !!! I have done this a number of times, with 100% result.
