Loose Change Collection at Home

Options
Hi All,

I am currently trying to organise a loose change campaign for a charity I am involved with, where we will supply a small home collection box for people to collect their loose change, then every few months they will donate the contents to the charity, with gift aid hopefully.

A search of the internet has found that many many charities are doing this, but does anyone know where they get their boxes from? The companies I've found so far want about £3 per small, card box or a plain box not much bigger than a matchbox that I can't think of any way to customise about from putting stickers all over it.

Although it's for charity, I would want the boxes to look good so that collecters will keep them out on display and help publicise our message to visitors to their homes! A plain box covered with stickers would be hidden away. Plus, if the box is on show, I think it will be used much more often.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

David

Sorry for the late reply, don't normally venture into this part.

Forget the box, and just issue a jam jar sized sticker, so the homes can use the jar of their choice.

    Much cheaper.

PS. Re the poll, yes I would, but only if it was a charity that I supported.

I would probably not give money if the box looked homemade. It would make me doubt and think maybe it's not a real charity. So yeah, I think the look of the box is important.

I do not know what the rules are about home collection boxes. I do know that the rules for collection boxes in shops etc are very clear: the box has to be sealed, numbered, labelled and identified with the charity's name, contact details and charity registration number.

The box can't be opened until it comes back to the office.

And I'm not sure about adding Gift Aid to the contents, you can really only Gift Aid what you've given from your income, IYSWIM, so a 'generic' collection that may not all have come from one person may be tricky.
