Wind blew car door.... damaged hinges/door....
When someone was getting out the passenger door today, there was a big gust of wind and it blew the door wide open and heard a big crack!
The doors are very big and heavy (Peugeot 207cc) - Now the door has dropped quite a lot and now wont close properly.
Anyone had this problem before? I took it to one garage who said its more of a bodyshop repair now (Bit of bent metal by the hinge on the outside of the car catching with the door)
He said the hinges look ok - nothing looks bent, and it might be some damage inside the car/or door
Im worried about how much this is going to cost now too.

Yes, get an estimate from a bodyshop.
Then consider whether it is cost effective to claim from your insurance... if you have comprehensive cover.0 -
Same happened to me yesterday on the drivers door of my Xsara Picasso. The door still shuts OK, but when you open it slowly, you can visibly see it "drop" by a couple of cm's and there is a clunk noise. I can see it slightly brushing against the wing as it opens/closes.
Think my issue is probably with the actual hinge, but as £ is tight and it still opens/shuts OK I'm going to have to leave it as it is for a while.0 -
most likely the door frame twisted
no bodyshop would attempt this in case it goes out of shape again and customer returns
it will need a new door and all the hassle associated with it
cost will be over a £1000 unless you source your own s/h door and fit it
call your insurer unfortunately0 -
Was hoping it wasnt a new door
havent had time to go get someone to look at it yet, hopefully will tomorrow!
My insurance is already £700 a year ish but got protected no claims now. but will be very expensive if i do claim plus my excess is around £350 ish I think.Make £10 a day Challenge June - £1700
