How to chose Windows 7 64 bit version?

I have a new PC with 8GB of RAM, so obviously want to install Windows 7 64 bit. I have Windows 7 DVD. It is saying in many places that at installation it will allow you to chose between 64 bit and 32 bit versions, however I am not given any choice at the application(unless I am doing something wrong) and it just installs 32 bit version
Has anyone experienced anything similar or knows what I have to do ?

Usually a separate dvd -there were some early releases with both in the box, but now its usually one or the other.0

I bought a retail copy of Windows 7 and the pack contained separate 32- and 64-bit DVDs. I think OEM copies are sold individually, though - you either buy a 32-bit OEM DVD or a 64-bit one.0
