Hi all
I am wondering if there is an easy way to monitor the hits/visits on my website that Someone else created for me. They are no longer involved with it.
Thanks

http://www.google.com/analytics/ is all you need.
You'll have to be able to add some html code to the website, which is what does the tracking.
You will also have to prove the website is yours, by a process of verification. Again, a one line of code is added to the website. This is linked to the Google Webmaster tools
I did it, so it must be pretty easy to do.
The service is free too0 -

If you have control over the website now, you can add a hit counter to the pages you want to monitor.
The ISP will be able to provide stats on where visits are coming from (search engines or links from other sites, blogs, forums, social media etc) -as long as the website author passed over access details like logins and passwords to you.0 -

Yes I have the login for the website so I will take a look. I am with GoDaddy and logged in but I couldn't see anything that told me about hits etc. Does anyone know if its there and where it is ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
If you want something that is a little bit simpler then use www.statcounter.com. It has all the same functions as Analytics but easier to read.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

It is also worth seeing what tools your web host offers. The people that host my website offer a couple of different web stats programs that allow you to look at your web performance online.

A problem I have setup Google Analytics and I have generated the code I need. However it says 'Copy and place the code snippet
Once you find the code snippet, copy and paste it into your web page, just before the closing </head> tag*. If your website uses templates to generate pages, enter it just before the closing </head> tag in the file that contains the <head> section. (Most websites re-use one file for common content, so it's likely that you won't have to place the code snippet on every single page of your website.)'
I can go into my web pages via Wordpress but I can't see a </head> on any of the pages I look on...any ideas how where I need to paste this code into ?
I clicked the tab from Visual to HTML but couldnt see it!"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
You won't on Wordpress but you can download the plugin for Analytics which will sort it out automatically.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

OK I did a search for the possible pluggin and there where a few so I assumed it was this one 'Successfully installed the plugin Google Analytics for WordPress 4.1.3.'
right ? There is an option to activate it.."The time is always right to do what is right"0 -
Still having problems the message now is 'The page you have requested cannot be displayed. Another site was requesting access to your Google Account, but sent a malformed request. Please contact the site that you were trying to use when you received this message to inform them of the error. A detailed error message follows:
The site "http://removed.com" has not been registered.'
I thought I had done this my setting up in Google A but when I try to authenticate from wordpress I get the above message.
any ideas how I can get this sorted out to work
Should I have selected Google Analytics Dashboard instead ?"The time is always right to do what is right"0
