Hi
Ask the Post Office to check the date and time of your posting. They can usually do this but do not advertise the fact. They will be able to tell you whether or not the item was delivered.
Royal Mail can only tell you if something has been delivered if you send it via a trackable means like recorded or special delivery. They have absolutely NO way of knowing if a parcel has been delivered if you used another method.
Ebay/Paypal rules say that as a seller you have to prove that the item was delivered as opposed to posted and sending tracked is the only way to overcome this, a proof of posting isnt enough.0 -
I know I'm not suggesting any help here but I feel I still need to get my point across to certain people in the forums.
This is a PRIME example of how ebay favours its buyers, and sellers have absolutely no protection against unsavory buyers. It's ok for mega-sellers making hand over fist but for the people like the OP and myself £50 can be alot of money to lose.
ebay needs to give more protection towards joe-bloggs sellers. I hope you all agree with me0 -
From what I can see: seller sold the item, seller got paid via eBay, seller post the item without proof of deliver, buyer said item not received.
Since item is not received buyer will want refund via eBay so buyer will get refund via eBay, eBay want refund from the seller. The seller will need to refund
What's wrong with this?
Any business or seller would need to follow the above0 -

No. eBay can only protect the seller if item is sent using the track delivery. The eBay is not a magic company who can find out if item is received or not without tracking number. In case of problem eBay will use the tracking number to find out where the problem is.
In most cases seller don't follow the basic points but when something go wrong want to blame others.
Aske the seller one question. If you order / pay for an item from eBay and not receive it, what would you do?
If seller say I have posted it, would you ask for refund or not.0 -
This buyer may be genuine.
But the fact there is an internet forum for people wanting to know how to scam ebay/Paypal transactions tells you all you need to know.
Avoid ebay like the plague, avoid Paypal like an even worse plague.0 -
It really is very simple. If you sell on ebay, send EVERYTHING by some trackable means! providing the item is then signed for you won't get this sort of problem. My late husband sold a huge amount of stuff on ebay, on average 300 items per week, only very small items were ever sent "standsard" mail, and we had certificates of posting for those, so if lost we claimed from the Post Office. The "rip off" type of buyer is put off if they know you can track the item as they know you can prove delivery! Sellers ARE protected, so long as they follow ebay guidelines.0

One scam is for the buyer to say they are returning the goods, but send an empty box with a tear in it.
The result, so the scammers say, is the buyer gets a refund and, of course, gets to keep the goods.0
