I will try asking my phone company to block their number, thankyou Kirstle99.
As for the nastiness, if you're trying to keep newbies away from the forum, well done, I won't be coming back.0 -
Nastiness? Everyone here is trying to help but they can only be so patient. Take the advice that's been offered or leave it, it's your choice!B.A - Shut up fool!0

Or use parcel2go as its tracked and half the time cheaper than post office
I have used them several times and have chosen to use the Collect + service because you don't have to wait around for the courier to collect.
They are good on large items but smaller items that can go small packets is cheaper with RM.0 -
frustrated, I would say first of all contact Newton and ebay and tell them all further requests for payment need to be in writing, no more telephone calls.
You will need to pay ebay regrettably, but the best thing to do is to contact them with an offer of payment each month and see if they accept it.
There is a template letter somewhere on this thread that you can send to creditors asking them not to contact you by telephone.0 -

this may help you. You can tell them you want all future communications in writing.0 -

This baffles me a little - nobody has been nasty to you, if anything your earlier sarcasm relating to people having money to throw around was the closest to unpleasantness there has been on this thread! The problem is, I suspect you posted thinking that people were going to come along and tell you how to go about not paying this debt.....and instead what you have heard hasn't been to your liking. Unfortunately the advice is good - the quickest way of sorting this out (and the kindest for your grandmother) is going to be to get it paid. So, work out where you can cut back for just the next month and see about getting the money together to get this sorted. There are plenty of folk on here who would be willing to help you if you wanted to post an SOA, but I can't promise they will always tell you precisely what you want to hear!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

I have taken the advice that's been offered. If I want to choose to skim over the - "you should have done this", and general looking down your noses at me then I will. And don't worry - I intend to leave! I didn't want to come back here and see more of this horrible !!!!!iness but I thought someone might have answered my question, and they have, thank you so much Aesop, I am really grateful for your help.
It's all very well telling me what to do but not many people read my OP properly. I can't pull money out of the air, obviously I don't want to pay a debt that's been scammed out of me, but if I have to I will, and I will do it when I am able to. Until that point I am still being harassed! All I want to know is how to stop the phonecalls! I don't need a lecture on how I should have used ebay. Pure judgment and bullying.
Let me tell you something, reading this ": This may be a web forum, but you’re still talking to other human beings. Repeatedly or harshly saying someone’s wrong, especially on boards like DebtFreeWannabe, Bankruptcy or Benefits, can lead to upset.
We’re proud that many people whose financial problems exacerbate mental health issues seek help in the forum, but this means you may be berating someone who’s clinically depressed. Please think twice before posting judgmental comments."
made me feel quite safe to post here, seems I was wrong.
I came asking for a simple piece of help and get berated, good luck to you all and well done for making someone who is at a very very low point feel like giving up. Maybe you'll be pleased to hear I do !!!!ing give up. Get out your streamers and dance on my !!!!ing grave.0 -

Quickest way by far is to simply unplug the phone, as has already been suggested. All other avenues will take time to resolve.
Next option is to get your phone company to apply 'Choose to refuse' to your line which will allow you to block up to 10 numbers, the problem with this is that they'll call you from another number. There is a charge for the service.
You can renumber your line, but you need to prove to your phone company it's because of malicious calls, or you'll be charged for this.
Another option, as implied above, is to speak to them and tell them to ensure all future correspondence is in writing.frustrated55 wrote: »What should I do next? Do I have to pay this?
Morally, yes, you should pay this, especially if you think that the buyer is genuine - it would be unfair to drag them into this if they're telling the truth.
The best option, as Aesop suggested, is to speak to them and see if you can arrange a payment plan for a few months.
If you steadfastly refuse to pay, do some research into the debt collection agency in question to see what their behaviour is like. Are they likely to take someone to court over a £50 debt, or will they write it off? Most companies have a 'threshold' below which they will write the debt off if they are unsuccessful in pursuing it through letters/phonecalls/threats of action. The threshold may be £5, it may be £50, do you feel lucky? It's a very risky strategy, a long fight and could leave you a lot worse off if it goes wrong.frustrated55 wrote: »Can ebay really enforce it?
Legally, I'm not really sure how far this will go and whether there are any legal precedents. The buyer cannot prove they've not received the item, any more than you can prove you sent it, but it will take a lot of time, money and harrassment to get to the point where you can argue over that in court.0 -
Frustrated, I feel your pain I really do. I too had to sell my beloved powerboat once to make necessary cut-backs to sort out a MASSIVE debt issue.
£50 can certainly be a lot of money to most people, and it clearly is to you. Why don't you post up an SOA so we can perhaps figure out how you can make the saving, or at the very least understand the bigger picture more clearly.B.A - Shut up fool!0 -
Hi
Ask the Post Office to check the date and time of your posting. They can usually do this but do not advertise the fact. They will be able to tell you whether or not the item was delivered. Armed with this information you can appeal to eBay and in the meantime look through the buyer's feedback to see if this has happened to them in the past. They could be serial claimers. If the parcel was not delivered then the Post Office can send you compensation, probably only up to the value of £30 but this will be something towards your £50. This happened to me for a lesser amount but the Post Office compensated even though I didn't have a receipt for the parcel. Please try this before giving up and use this as a lesson learned for the future - always obtain a receipt, proof of posting - it doesn't cost any more. Don't let this put you off eBay but use this to go on and make money. Always stick your return address on the back - you only need your post code and number of your house - in case the parcel goes astray. Ring these Newman people and tell them to refrain from annoying your Grandmother otherwise you will report their behaviour to eBay. Explain to them that you're trying to resolve the situation but need more time. Good luck and all the best.0
