car leasing & hire purchase advise

Hello, I am looking to either lease or get a car on hire purchase but I have been told that I am not able to because I do not have a full driving license. Is that correct?
Advise please.

There is no legal restriction AFAICS. Just if the finance company insist on a driving licence for ID or the seller chooses not to sell to you, they can make any pathetic excuse they like [almost]

hmmm, I guess its got something to do with tying driving offenses to a legally capable driver. In the same way as knowing letting someone without insurance drive your makes you liable.

Can't see that. The legal document here would be the V5 vehicle reg document. The named person does not have to be a driver. Unless vehicle leasing or hire purchase requires the V5 to be in the name of the financer.

It's quite common, if you can't drive the car on your own (because you don't have a full licence) then a finance company is going to wonder who the car is actually for?
Rather than take peoples word for it that they're still learning, they'll just reject the application as they don't want the hassle...
Pass your test then try again!
