Working Tac Credit and Full time student

Can anyone clear up a question that is not completely clear on the tax credits page. Discussion with friend who needs an answer and neither of us know what answer is and the website for WTC and students just says MAY...
Registered full time student on a Foundation Degree with modules condensed into 2 full days and therefore working for 4 days a week on minimum wage and entitled to Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit - the adult dependants grant has to be shown as income, the maintenance grant not but two contradicting answers:
1. Working tax credit cannot be claimed as a full time student on a courses classed as full time.
2. Working tax credit may be claimed by students who also work
Help which answer is correct please? I appreciate some course spread the modules over the week whilst others condense to help working people continue to work.
The tuition fee loan and maintenance grant will not be claimed since a previous degree is held so no entitlement to these therefore self financing the tuition fee from private loan and income.
Many thanks.

The student is on a full time course (modules condensed into 2 days per week and works as well on a low wage and has 4 children so under normal rules qualifies for working tax credit but has been told as a student (full time) then working tax credit cannot also be claimed. The student has been getting contradictory information and so we were discussing this but neither of us were sure whether working tax credits could be claimed as well and the WTC site is unclear and say MAY be able to claim so not a definate yes - has anyone been in this situation and claimed WTC as a full time working student?
Title should read Working TAX credit and student - sorry0 -
I have added the notes from the WTC site:
Working Tax Credit
"If you're working as well as being either a full-time or part-time student, you may be able to get Working Tax Credit.
Working Tax Credit includes a specific element to support the cost of registered childcare for working parents, but you don’t have to have children to claim.
But if you receive the childcare element of the Working Tax Credit, you won’t be able to claim the Childcare Grant as well."
This sort of implies that you could claim the childcare element of WTC as a specific element but doen'st specifically say the student would also get the WTC payment - in this instance there is no need for childcare since children at school and then family look after.0 -

I telephoned the helpline today and was told that full time students cannot claim working tax credit as well as student maintenance loans/grants etc but can claim the childcare element of tax credits if they have registered childcare to pay for. I was told its full time student or a worker with WTC not both0 -
I'm looking for information on this topic as I'm turning 25 this summer. I am a full time student and am interested to find out if I would be eligible for working tax credit if I were to work 30 hours per week. I have no children. The direct.gov website suggests you would be but I've seen a lot of conflicting advice.Sealed Pot Challenge #239
