I recently attempted to transfer money from my LTSB account to smile.. I entered £480 instead of £380.. checked it thinking there was enough in the account. Well.. instead of LTSB telling me on their website that there were not enough funds do the transfer. They sent me a letter in the post with a £35 fine. Really unfair in my book - I think that the website should just say you don't have the necessary funds to make the transaction please enter a suitable amount.
End of rant.

£35 'fine' seems excessive - write to them asking to reduce it, as the charge seems to include an element of profit, which they are not allowed to do."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Certainly, when transferring money out of my Egg account, if I enter an amount greater than the available balance it tells me I don't have the funds.
(It hasn't been that I've been trying to take out money I don't have; rather that there were amounts that showed in my balance that hadn't cleared.)Regards,

I have never been stopped by LLoydstsb on line from sending money I haven't got in the account. It's a bit sneaky on their part really but it does say providing funds are available. I was once charged for a transfer i had set up in advance and was £2 short of the full amount and of course it bounced. I learned an awful lot about finance that day. You can claim your charges back, don't forget.0 -
I wrote to them complaining and they cancelled the charge because it was a first offense.
I'm considering writing to the ombudsman stating its unfair.0
