Hi,
I have just noticed on my First Direct Internet Banking that I am pre-approved for a Gold Card....does this mean I am guaranteed the card? Do they conduct credit searches for existing customers?
Cheers

They'll either not mention the amount (so you could be approved for only £250), and/or it'll be loaded with fine print that'll say additional checks are necessary should you wish to take up the offer.
So to answer your question, they are not guaranteeing anything.0 -
I would guess if your pre-approved you'll be guaranteed it, why not ring them 08 456 100 100 to check any details. They'll either not mention the amount (so you could be approved for only £250), and/or it'll be loaded with fine print that'll say additional checks are necessary should you wish to take up the offer.

If you are an existing customer and you have been told that you have been pre-approved for a Gold Card then in all probability you have and you will receive the card. Presumably you have to click somewhere or return something to them to confirm you want this upgrade?0 -

I fully understand the reasons why (I was heavily stoozing at the time), but under similar circumstances HSBC and Halifax have both given me 'pre-approved' cards recently...albeit with smaller credit limits (£5K and £6K respectively).0
