I can get a Humax FOXSATHDR500 direct from Humax for £259 or with a "special bundle" for £289. The bundle includes two freesat approved power line adaptors for iPlayer.
What are these and do I need them? Surely all I have to do is plug in an ethernet cable?

These are for getting iplayer, itv player on demand etc. You plug one adaptor into router and another into back of the foxsat0

Thanks, I got that but looking at the picture of the back there is what looks like a normal ethernet socket? So does the adaptor make it wireless or what?0

You can connect an Ethernet cat5 connector directly into the receiver or alternately if you are some distance from the modem/router then you can make it wireless using the mains power line adapter0

The adapters just make it easier to connect the Humax to your router (i.e. the router is in another room)Laters

I have a pair one connected via Ethernet to router and plugged in to upstairs socket . One downstairs plugged in to socket and via ethernet to TV ( built in Iplayer )
Mainly bought as less than TV wireless dongle and can be used for other products .

Use the adaptors directly into the main socket they dont always work in extension leads0

No, the broadband signal is carried from your router to the Foxsat via your ring mains and the Homeplug adaptors. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
