Hi, I am trying to download Eset online scanner, which I have used several times with no bother.Nothing happens at all, no Active x box, Nadda. However, as I am having trouble with IE8 ,tried Downloading Firefox again earlier, unsuccessful,and several other programs, all which seem ok on Chrome, I want an onliner to check Avast isn,t missing something,
There,s something on my system that,s stopping IE8 doing it,s job.
Eset is not compatable with Chrome.
Can anyone give me other onliners I can try please?

In addition try resetting ie8 back to factory settings on the internet ioptions advanced tab - removes all add-ons............

Hi rob, I did that with no success, had all sorts of bother with various programs, including Banking.PSI.downloading Eset, umpteen.:(
As a last resort, I put on IE9, something I did when it was first launched and took it off again, didn,t like it.
BUT, believe it or not, It,s cured my problems, I,ve downloaded and ran Eset, which found 3 infections, 1 being the old Worm Bagle, these have been removed, these were not the cause of my problems.;;;
My only conclusion is that Somehow I was missing certain windows updates for IE8, but it was ok, days prior, so what happened is beyond me. Even my printer is working now, that was the start of my multiple problems, spooler stopped.
IE9,I know is not liked on here, but I had to try something as I was going round, in circles with IE8. I was putting stuff on and then taking it off as it wouldn,t work, Firefox being only 1 example.
With luck I might get to use mp PCfor what I had it for, 2 weeks of aggro, every day since I restored to Factory settings, I,ve had things going wrong. Thanks for replying, much appreciated.
