can i connect desktop monitor to a tv

[FONT="]i have a lcd monitor (with vga and dvi-d connectors) which is connected to the desktop via a vga cable, i would like to know would it be possible to connect the monitor to tv so can watch films etc that are playing on the monitor to the tv.
Can i use a div-d to hdmi cable, from the monitor to the TV, as someone has told me that wont work?

You can get a DVI to VGA adapter from most places.

i dont have a dvi port on the computer im afraid, would a vga splitter work without quality loss?0

Be aware, connecting the PC to a TV or monitor will not take the audio feed, this will need to be done with a seperate wire from the PC soundcard to the TV.0

i will just use 5 metre vga to vga cable and see how that goes along with an audio lead something like this

it a bit of a pain moving the desktop all the time- but the exercise will help!0
