Where about are you? Can you tell me which range of Quickstep flooring you are having please? I fit a lot of Quickstep flooring myself, and I charge £8 per metre. Depending on what you wanted done, I would charge in the region of £480 - £500 just for fitting. Has the shop given you a breakdown of the cost for laminate and accessories, and a cost for fitting?0

It doesnt sound that bad with everything in but like mr vampy says it depends what flooring and trims you are getting.0

Sounds a bit expensive. £1500 would be nearer the mark.0

Thank you for replies, range is quick step classic qsm033 oak colour.
Friends brother doing work, so have not bothered to get different quotes as thought he would do a deal.
We live in Sussex.
many thanks0 -
I just had a quick look at a few online retailers and for 60 square metres of the Quick-step Classic Natural Varnished Oak (QSM033) you would need 33 packs which comes to about £750 - £800. It's a 7mm thick plank. The price may be more if you go to a flooring shop in your high street.
Do you know what type of underlay and how much scotia beading you are using? Also how many door theshold bars you need? Do doors need trimming?
As "Malky" says, I would say the price to be in the £1500 region0 -
Hi Mr Vampy,
there are 7 door threseholds, but no idea about underlay etc, running from hall to kitchen to dining area.
Feel a little 'had over' by a mate now.
Thank you for your help0 -
The threshold bars will cost between £5 and £10 each depending on which type you are using. Underlay again will vary depending on which one is being used. A pack of 10m 6mm fibreboard underlay is about £20. A 20m roll of a 3mm foam underlay is about £20. There are other high performance underlays which will cost more. The scotia beading is about £5 for a 2.4m length
Do you know what your subfloor is constructed of? Is it wooden floorboards or is it concrete? If it is concrete, you'll also need a damp proof membrane underneath the underlay.
Have your friend's brother been given the go ahead to do the job? You should try asking a local flooring shop who supply Quickstep to see how much they charge for supply and fit. There's one by me who do free fitting provided you purchase over a certain amount of flooring.0 -
Hi,
the house was built in the 50's and the floor is a tile which was the original damp course for the house, we originally wanted karndean but was advised all the tiles would need to come up and a whole new damp course added to the floor, as the orinal tiles should not have anything stuck to them.
I have told him yes to the job, but it wont be for 3/4 weeks as kitchen going in etc. But think i should use this time to get a few other quotes in to compare at least i can then go back to him if local people come in much cheaper.
Thank you so much for taking the time to assist me in this, much appreciated.0
