Housing benefit claim

Hey guys, not sure if any one can help. I recently gave up work to look after my autistic son. I have put in a claim for housing benefit as my partner is on a low income as a trainee. We had a letter to confirm we would be entitled to help at £90 a week, this was on the 11th July, We left it a few weeks, and then we contacted the council as the find out when the payments would start. They said we would recieve our first payment on the 22nd August. They also informed us any payment owed between the 11th july to 22nd August, they would keep due to a previous overpayment that we had been paying off from two years ago. They have also informed us they would be keeping £20 a week to pay of the debt. Its now the 12th September and we havent recieve any thing, apparently the last payment didnt get sent due to clerical error blah blah blah, and would be resissued (they only make payments on sunday, and takes three days to clear.
As the last two month rent havent been in full our landlord is threatening us with a section 21 due to rent arrears, (only £300, as we have tried to keep up as much as poss). We cant afford to move as most of the rental properties have sky rocketed by about £150 to £200 a month, the council wont even let us go on the council list for affordable housing, all the housing associations are controlled by the council list.
Sorry to rabbit on, just wondering if any one can offer advice, or previous experiences. Many thanks peeps

Keep at them. Go to the council, call the council. Basically contact them every day for an update. They'll pay up eventually. Keep your landlord updated and possibly borrow just enough to pay the rent and keep the section 21 away.

if they have confirmed that they have all information with which to calculate your claim, then they are by law, required to pay your benefits within 14 days of your claim start date

get down there and refuse to leave until you have a manual payment for what you are owed at this point in time and smooth talk your landlord as best you can
