notebookworks.co.uk - Avoid

A complete rip off.

Ordered goods on the 5 day delivery and a month later nothing. The only way to contact them is via email and all they say are things like 'I believe it will be delivered soon' and 'If you still insist refund. You can send the item back to us after you receive it. When we receive the product, we can arrange refund for you'.

Despite the website being a .co.uk they are based in China, hence the long delay. If you need to suffer this crap service make sure you use a credit card to at least have some protection, otherwise be prepared to kiss goodbye to your money.

Avoid like the plague.

To be honest their website looks like it was created by someone who doesn't speak English as their first language but they do state they ship from the UK which is misleading if they then say it comes from China.

The chances are your items are on the slow boat from China via lord knows where and might arrive in a few weeks, assuming they arrive at all.

Bad luck but a useful check can be had via a 'whois' lookup and it would in this case reveal:

Did you pay by paypal? If so, open an item not received dispute and you'll receive your money back, even if not an ebay listing

Even if it was shipped from China then it wouldn't take a month-it would be airfreghted, not seafreighted for an item like that. The website clearly says that all orders are sent direct from a UK warehouse-then quotes 15 dollars shipping cost. If you've already waited a month then you're never going to see it all- I do hope you paid with a credit card.
And in the unlikely event that it did turn up, you'll now be clobbered with import duty. VAT and the importer's handling charge on top. Plus no UK warranty.
    You've waited long enough-do a chargeback now.
PS: Did you know anyone who has purchased successfully from them before you ordered?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks for the replies.

Like an idiot I paid via Paypal with a direct bank transfer - no chance of clawback there then. Paypal dispute opened and now closed following their review - apparently a tracking number is all that is required. Never mind non delivery. Paypal are about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Having done some more research into the company I concur with all the above.

Have reported them to customs & excise, VAT and a few others. It won't get me a refund but hopefully it will prevent others from similar experiences.
  • In this companies defense I ordered an IP camera from them 2 days ago and it arrived this morning. I'm guessing it was shipped from their UK warehouse as nothing else could have got here quicker.
I have to admit I found your issue with this company just after I had placed the order, and I had began to worry. The main reason that I bought it from them as they specified that it was UK shipped.
  • Further update. The post office have provided a tracking number proving the goods were returned to them, in China.

Despite all my emails I have yet to have any confirmation from them that they have received the goods or even provide a refund. All they appear capable of are inane comments:
But your item has been sent our from our warehouse. On check, we find it has arrived in UK on 22 Aug. I believe if will be delivered to you soon. Please kindly wait.

The cannot even understand the item has been returned.

Regarding the UK warehouse comment, I would check to see where it came from. Quite possibly its been drop shipped. However, the claim that products are UK sourced is untrue (in my case) as clearly has been demonstrated.
