Switching to BG for free insulation
Has anybody done this? I am with Atlantic and very happy with their level of service. Having been a BG customer years ago I cannot say the same.
However, I understand that they are offering free cavity and lost insulation to customers at the moment.
Going through Atlantic I have had a quote for £260 total for both. Not on any benefits.
Would it be worth switching to BG for electricity to get this or would it take too long to sort and end up being mid winter by the time it's done? Anyone done it?
Only use electric as have oil heating. Thanks

As I understand it you dont have to be a BG customer to get this. Though Im prepared to be proven wrong.0

Isn't the main factor going to be the saving (or not) that you would make by moving to BG?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

It's about free cavity and loft insulation and less about electricity costs, as I suspect yearly prices for electricity are not too similar between the two, as Atlantic have recently announced a massive price hike.
However, I'm trying to find out if anyone has changed from a supplier to BG and how long the process takes. If I stay with Atlantic then I'll have to pay £260 for the insulation, but BG offer it free to their customers.
Didn't think it applied to non-customers unless you are on benefits and then I've heard it can take several months to sort out.0 -
Just had a thought and checked my local council website and they have a grant service available which is £128 for both wall and loft, which is a lot better than £260, so I won't bother changing providers. Didn't like BG at all and you have to be with them by October 31st and registered for the offer.
No confidence that it would be switched by then and it's already cold here!0
