The thing to do here is to go for the Own-Brand "Wheat Bisks" as opposed to the Value range stuff. (You can tell by the size / quantity, should be the same as Weetabix).

The reason for this is (I believe) Weetabix make the own-branded product for the Supermarkets and sell it to them as well as their own. I cannot taste the difference between the two, because they are the same product in different boxes.

Price-wise, on offers you can get 24 for £1 which is only marginally more expensive than the Value stuff but doesn't taste like socks and fits nicely in a Weetabix bowl - if you're sad enough to have one (Like ME! :rotfl:)
  • Sainsbury basics wheat biscs are the only ones that are accepted in this house. (in preference to the real thing)!
  • Last week Lidl had Weetabix (72x18g) for £3.49, normally these are about £4.99. Not sure if they are still this price though.

still had them when I went in last night
  • The Lidl own-brand ones are really good.

I second the Weetabix cake suggestion but I think Weetabix brownies beat it.
  • Ok with 4 very young children as in aged 1, (12 month) 1 (20month) 3, and 6. I go through so many boxes of cereal. and mine all love weetabix esspecially warm and great when weaning. so i have tried alot of brands as i find that weetabix it self is a tad expensive for what it is!
And i agree Tescos is 'MINGING' as my 6 year old says... i thought he just saying it till i tried and it was like licking a old hard foot, Not nice at all.
As mentioned morrisons is ok, but i found sainsburys to be the best Value ones, and also asda do ones not there own brand value, but in a yellow box called sunshine something and they are smaller, but actually really nice i think you get 36 ( i have in my pantry but cant go chack as my son asleep on my lap lol) and i buy them or sainsburys as cheap but nice.
As for complianing i find if you email, and say something along the lines of you bought value as struggle and thought being tesco and known for quality they would be good but they were not etc etc. you usually get some sort of response.
I complained to hollands and got a 10.00 postal order lol.

Apparently these are the best of the crop, all scoring 10/10 according to food critic Martin Isark of SupermarketOwnBrandGuide.co.uk:

    ASDA Wheat Bisks (48x18g) £2.67 (30.9p/100g)

    &

    ASDA Wheat Bisks (24x18g) £1 (23.1p/100g)

    Morrisons 24 Wheat Biscuits £1.15

    001029.jpg?ts=633854523387

    Tesco Wheat Biscuits (48x18g) £2.69 (31.1p/100g)

    &

    Tesco Wheat Biscuits (24x18g) - £1.49 (34.5p/100g)

    001322.jpg?ts=633851753184

    Essential Waitrose Wholewheat Biscuits (24x18g) - £1.49 (34.5p/100g)

    192863.jpg?ts=634444852080

Sunnybisk Wheat Biscuits (48 per pack - 864g) are the ones you mean Mummy2four.withnomoney which are currently £1.59 (18.4p/100g) at ASDA

    Tesco's Value 36 Wheat Biscuits at 75p score a 0 rating.
  • As usual, you guys are the best! I thought that I was going to be ridiculed for my post, but "au contraire" you have all come up trumps especially the pics and the lists of Best Buys. Keep up the good work.
  • Dave, the Sunnybisk weren't actually tried and tested by Martin Isark but from what Mummy2four.withnomoney says they do appear OK.

And neither were Tesco's value wheat biscuits to be fair to Martin, it actually says on SupermarketOwnBrandGuide Product not tasted or tested. I guess if they were tested they would most likey score a 1 which says "Let someone else throw it away". Too true from what you and others have pointed out!

Always a pleasure to help out!
