Hello
I got 3 parking notices from vehicle control in Sheffield, I appealed without any success. I then ignored the letter demanding me to pay £200 in total. Now I have recieved a final demand notice and the amount has increased to £300. I have read posts related to this topic and the message seems to be to ignore however I've appealed so does that mean they have evidence that I was the driver etc? Have to pay within 14 days ..any advice would be appreciated

The advice is that you ignore them. Don't write to them again and ignore all correspondence from them. You don't owe them a penny. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

All you have done is announce yourself as a good prospect to the scammers. It is a scam, nothing else and should be treated with contempt. We have all been there and have not been taken to court. Eventually the scammers will give up and move onto a different potential victim after making a lot of unenforceable threats..Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

Even if you shout from the rooftops that you were the driver, it doesn't magically make the £300 in any way enforceable.
Simply ignore them.0 -
Thanks people..I was about to pay up but will just ignore now!!!0

Parking comes under the rules of contracts. When you park in a private car park, all you are doing is entering into a contract with that other party. You pay some money, they let you park. If you breach that contract, i.e, don't buy a ticket, or overstay your alloted time, they cannot impose a fine, as there is no such thing as a fine, under contract law.
They can sue you for damages though, but as the UK law has no provision for punative damages, and Penalty Clauses are unenforcable, they can only claim any loss they actually suffered due to your breach. In the instance of a car parking space, a few pound at the most.
So to be pedantic, they TECHNICALLY do have a case, but they will NEVER in a million years be awarded £300. They would have to prove that they suffered £300 worth of losses as a result of your breach of contract.
So the advise is spot on. Ignore it. If it went to court (never going to happen) The most they could ever get from you is a couple of pound, and NO company is going to instruct solicitors / debt collectors to pursue a few quid. The moral of the story. NEVER pay a demand for money until you haved throughly checked it is a legitimate fine / penalty issued by an appropriate authority, or is for something that you have previously agreed to pay for, and are being invoiced the agreed amount.HTWSSTKS0 -
Well I recieved 2 notices for going over by 20 minutes in a car park which allows you free parking for 2 hours
The other notice was for parking on the kurb at cineworld..the total amount was £200..which has increased to £300 because I haven't paid. I'm sure this will continue to increase.0 -
And you can continue to ignore! What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Yes ignore it. Parking "fines" from private parking companies such as the ones that operate at cineworld are not fines and they are not enforceable. They are a scam and as part of the scam you will receive threatening letters about legal action. Ignore them.0
