Casinos in Dublin are mostly based around poker. The best I have been to is the Fitzwilliam in Dublin D2 (Clifton Hall). What needs to be remembered is that the Irish really started the whole poker thing in Europe. That and other card games are built into the Irish DNA. So most establishments lean heavily towards cards. The Fitz does have roulette, 3 card poker, Blackjack. I don't remember anything else but there may be?

It is open 24/7 and whilst you can order a full range of food at the tables, there is no alcohol served in Irish casinos AT ALL. There are no comps although they do run promos from time to time.

There are pubs nearby as can be testified to by anybody who has played a tourney there, the pubs know when a break is due as there is a mass exodus to the pub where you will find beers poured and lined up on the bar. It is not unusual to see a busy pub with a whole bunch of people outside only to go in and find the bar nearly empty because of the smoking ban.

There are several in town, I think the Merrion is closed and being refurbed at the moment. Any around that are not reliant on cards are going to be small, pretty much like those small ones you find on the continent in hotel basements I think.

What can be said is that I found the Fitz welcoming and well managed, security at the door is spot on in managing those 2am drunks looking for a last drink. You sign up on your first visit with photo ID.
