TNT + My new alloy wheels = BIG MESS!!

Got a knock on the door 30mins ago, it was the TNT delivery driver coming to drop my new alloy wheels off, YAY!! He tells me to "sign your name here", which i do, whilst he goes get the wheels off the truck. I decide ill be a helpful samaritan and stand at the bottom of the truck and help him unload my wheels. Lovely all sorted, get them in side and thats when i notice ... theres some damage to the front layer of cardboard that should be protecting the face of the wheel, i cut off the white tie wrap stuff to reveal a very badly damaged alloy wheel, with quite a few big gouges in the rim and spokes, paint has been scratched off etc.
Get to wheel 2, that too has slight damage to the front of the packaging ... great ... another gouge in the centre of the spoke, with paint removed.
Wheel 3 ... doesnt have any signs of package damage, but there is paint missing off the rear edge of 1 of the rims.
Wheel 4 is perfect!
Where do i stand, ive just contacted the company that supplied the wheels and he said hes going to ring TNT and see what he can do.
I would like to know where i stand legally, im not very happy that my £800 alloys look like ****. Am i ****** because i signed for them?

Hi,
Cant help you on this one, but for future reference if you cant open the box in front of the delivery driver then sign your name and write unchecked. That applies to everything that is delivered, this gives you leeway when you do get round to opening your items.

Just had a phone call from the suppliers, very apologetic although in fairness its not his fault TNT are **** (IMO my opinions etc etc legal disclaimer *YAWN*)
Going to ship me a new set out next week when the tyres are back into stock, offered to ship just the wheels if i was desperate and i get the tyres swapped over and they reimburse me for fitting but that sounded too much like effort
Great result, big thumbs up, pics to follow sometime next week !0 -

Apart from all the hassle of taking 8 wheels, four with tyres, to a fitter, if something goes wrong in the fitting you could have major problems.
Have they said anything about collecting the damaged wheels?
You might end up with four spare wheels and tyres to keep or to ebay.:D0
