  • Barclays and RBS, amongst others, going down the pan this week as the new rules on segregation of retail banking assets are announced. The end of cheap money will hurt profits and inflate risks.

My guess is that there will be reduced volatility afterwards but at depressed valuations.

As to the rest of the FTSE, I cannot see much upside and I'll go for a straight 5000 heading north after a fall in the interim.

5850, I think questions like this simply identify negative and positive personalities because 'Anything could happen in the next half hour'.

Gut instinct tells me that the autumn is going to be interesting. What with yesterdays news.
European Central Bank chief economist Juergen Stark has resigned amid speculation of conflicts within the ECB over its bond-buying programme.

The ECB said the German was leaving "for personal reasons", but would stay in the job until a successor is found.

Must be real division within the ECB as this is the 2nd senior German official to resign.

I guess at a small decrease. Mainly because about 2 months ago I invested in a S&S ISA:o

Who was wearing the toga, you or the beardy HL chap ?

Not that's it's important, but I'm just curious.
