Dreamland electric blanket / re-activation.

I have a double electric over blanket, which does not heat up.
It has dual controls, and both thermostats currently illuminate.
I can't believe that both sides, (which I would guess are independant of each other), have died at the same time.
After searching for an answer, the only reference I have found to a similar situation, was that they can fail, if they are turned off, after use, without first reducing the temperature.
Guilty as charged !
A reference to re-activating the controls was made, but it was not explained how this should be done.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in anticipation.
