How do I delete this file?

I have a memory stick with a MS Word document on it which I don't need anymore, the document will not open, it says 'there is a serious disk error on file *****', I can right click it and then delete and it disappears from the folder, but when I open the folder again the document is still there and I can not get rid of it, I have tried on three different PCs but still no luck. Any ideas on how I can get rid of it please.

Have you tried formatting the disk (backing up everything else on disk first of course)?
