How do I delete this file?

I have a memory stick with a MS Word document on it which I don't need anymore, the document will not open, it says 'there is a serious disk error on file *****', I can right click it and then delete and it disappears from the folder, but when I open the folder again the document is still there and I can not get rid of it, I have tried on three different PCs but still no luck. Any ideas on how I can get rid of it please.

Have you tried formatting the disk (backing up everything else on disk first of course)?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"
