If you a big Elvis fan then the Heartbreak Hotel is just opposite Gracelands and next door to various attractions close to Elvis's life. Personally I'd probably stay downtown near to Beale Street if I went back.
I booked with Virgin Holidays.0 -
Memphis... First time I went I jumped in a cab, looked up and there was dried blood all over ceiling.... and it didn't improve much...
I went to Beale Street and was vastly underwhelmed. It was the weekend before Christmas and was very quiet though.
I wouldn't go in Summer. It gets very hot and oppressively humid. March - April or late September - October would be your best bet.
When I go I stop in the Hilton that's on the opposite side of town from Beale Street so can't help there.0 -
Got to agree, Memphis is not what you might expect. Rather it's a crime riddled place that is just plain ugly.
Ok, you get Graceland and the wall that everyone signs their name on, the plane on the museum opposite and the recording studios. Other than that there is nothing.
If you do find yourself there though can I suggest you head to Lynchburg Tennessee and the Jack Daniels distillary - Love that place. But Memphis - For a day maybe, any longer and you should look to stay in Atlanta or maybe even Birmingham AL.0 -

oh yes, would definately recommend a few nights in Nashville. I actually prefered it to Memphis.
Perhaps, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans?0
