I am filling in a budget sheet and I need an estimated monthly cost for gas and electricity. I am a single male and will be buying a 1 bedroom flat with gas central heating, electric oven, gas hob. I would say I'm a light user.
Any ideas what my average bill will be approximately?

As regards average annual consumption you might find this useful...

As regards cost, plug the numbers into a Consumer Focus accredited comparison website.
Whether you will be an average, low (or in between) user is difficult to guess. I suggest you choose "medium user" unless you are certain the flat is well insulated and the central heating system has modern controls in which case "low user" might be appropriate.0 -

This will partly be based on if the property is a new build or an older one, even if it has cavity wall insulation or not as this all makes a difference and even whether the flat you buy is an mainly surrounded by other dwellings or not. if you buy a flat that is a combined living & kitchen area then while cooking this will heat the living area reducing the need for central heating.
I used to live in a 1 bedroomed ground floor flat that was enclosed by a flat on either side, it had a combined living/kitchen area a bedroom & a bathroom, British gas used to charge me £61 a month combined for gas & electric but as I rarely had any heating on I soon got that down to just over £33 a month, as I would watch TV without a light on. Energy saving bulbs also cut the electric bill. This was just 12 months ago while BG were putting pricces up mine were going down.
Also if you are out at work for most of the day you won't be using any electic except for the appliances plugged in 24/7Someone please tell me what money is0
