card fail 35

Options
Hi am wondering if anyone could shed any light on this situation??. I have a gas meter with scottish power, and earlier today I put the heating on as normal and then later on went to check how much was on the meter. when it states emergency in use, but neither I or my boyfriend has pressed for the emergency to come on. So I took the card out then put it back in and it now states card fail 35. We went the local shop to top up and the card has been credited with no problems. but when put in the machine it still reads card fail 35!
I have tried ringing scottish power but to no avail! I am not wanting to ring national grid as its not a proper emergency, but has anyone had this problem before??

Thanks x

DO NOT call national grid gas emergency service, you need to call 08457 292 292 if closed stay on the line do nothing say nothing, you will eventually be given a second number when you call that do not take option one as this is not a gas emergency take option 2 - you will need to have your account number to hand.

It is a metering issue to be dealt with by the metering people your suppliers uses. not a gas emergency.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.
  • Give the chip on the card a little wipe with a clean cloth. Then when you insert the card bend it a little so it forces the chip to make contact with the sensor inside the meter. Fail 35 is often caused because the chip isnt making a good contact with the inside of the meter. Hopefully this works, if not, then give Scottish Power a call in the morning.
