Using it up - a change of plan

There have been a few threads/posts about using up the contents of freezers and cupboards in January to help cut costs after Christmas - I've posted/been doing this myself.
But now I think a change of plan is in order. Going round the supermarket recently for stuff I've not got a surplus of, I noticed that there are a lot of special offers around this month - much more than usual. This got me thinking and I've decided that I'm doing things the wrong way round - I should have used up the contents of the freezer/cupboards in November. The Christmas stuff would have filled them back up in December; that stuff would be used in December, leaving lots of space for me to take advantage of the special offers in January.
So I've repacked my freezer to make some space for the specials and have put a note in my diary on 1st November to remind me that November is "use it up" month.
Doing this will also help out the budget before Christmas

I also was surprised how many special offers they are on food this month, especially straight after xmas the prices had gone down to practically nothing and the same as you the freezer was not empty enough to take advantage so yes def november/december are the months to get rid of the contents and then come boxing day you can live like a king....!! xxx0

I've noticed that too, and there are some particularly silly offers in Asda atm, we do get through quite a few crisps as DH loves them and everyone has a pack in their lunchbox. They have Skips and Hula Hoops 12 for £1.65 but buy 2 for £1.50! I am definitely heading to Asda when DD has recovered.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
