Do I adivse people of the food for the wedding with the invite?

You don't need to advise about the menu if you're only having one choice, just ask about dietary needs, allergies etc. I've only seen information about the options on RSVPs to give guests a chance to choose. TBH if you tell people what you're serving and there's only one choice it just gives them a chance to complain!0

We did ask for requirements and we got one veggie I already knew and the only 'requirement' was for beer!! But once we'd chosen what our main choice would be, and what the veggie option was we told people and asked for their choice. I'm glad we did as 4 meat-eaters have just said they'd prefer the veggie option. But we didn't have many guests to worry about - probably would have re-considered that idea if we'd been catering for more0

Definitely not necessary, in fact we had a wedding website and I didn't even think of putting it on there. If anyone has awkward dietary requirements they'll certainly let you know.
If you want to put a lot of information out I'd certainly recommend doing a wedding website and your invitation can direct people to it for more information.
We used gettingmarried.co.uk and I can't recommend it highly enough!0 -

I wouldn't bank on it.
We had not one, but TWO people who only just remembered they were veggie the day before the wedding!0 -

I believe hotels always have a store of veggie options just in case, but really if someone came to my wedding who forgot in advance they were a vegetarian I wouldn't care if they went hungry!!0 -
Yeah, it's was pretty silly!
The venue did have some wiggle room for extras, but if a third person "remembered" they wouldn't have had anything!0 -

I would definitely just ask dietry requirements/allergies.
We had so many people complain that they didn;t like and didn't want that it drove us up the wall. We now decided it's tough luck!:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

We've just started to send out our cards, and have put on the information sheet please can you let us know of dietry requirements so these can be catered for. Anything else and you just have people being fussy and causing problems0

We asked 'any allergies or dietary requirements'. We had a choice of 2 for each course, but most people took the steak pie :-)
I wouldn't provide the menu, it seriously will only lead to extra work! 'Oh I don't like peas, can i have carrots?' Can I have boiled potatoes instead of mash? etc etc etc!
You have enough to do without this hassle! lol xCan't think of anything smart to put here...0
