I finally complete today

And suddenly I feel so sad like a sentimental old fool. I am going over this morning to say goodbye to the house which was my home for 7 years. I hope the new people are happy there and are nice to my little house..

I had a dream about your flat last night lyn, seriously! But I dont think it was actually your flat because it was 8 bedrooms in St James' Palace. Very beautiful, I popped round to see you and said you were nuts to sell because your mortgage was only £135 per month. I was also a little surprised that the housing association part owned St James' Palace... who knew!

And yeah, it's been a long and painful road and I am glad it's all over. This time tomorrow I will be debt free and have a nice little full ISA, savings direct debit is in place and the future looks much rosier. I might even take the kids to Disney Paris for a few days while they are doing kids go free, we haven't had a holiday in 5 years, I checked it out and it will cost just over £500.

I know I have done the right thing and Lyn, I thank you for it, it was you in the beginning who talked me through this decision and I will be eternally thankful to you for it. My quality of life and the quality of my finances has increased 10 fold over the past 6 months. I was very much stuck in the great British idea of 'must own a house at all costs' but now I see how much better off we are renting. Our house is bigger and better, we are financially in control with cash in the bank, I don't pay a penny in interest after today, not one penny. No credit cards, loans, overdrafts, mortgage. My savings in interest alone doubles the rent payment, isn't that amazing. All of that interest now goes into various savings accounts to earn interest.

I am rubbish at goodbyes though, the last time I saw my mum alive was in the kitchen of my house, so i spent a good long time in there this morning saying goodbye... silly really!

    Good luck today Toto

I don't think there is anything wrong with being upset to leave your house, I was gutted when we left our flat and I walked into the EA to collect our new keys in tears and I think they were all bemused as I had hassled them for months to get to that day but when somewhere has been your home its hard to let go.

Remember the good times and think of the future,
House purchase completed 6th December whole process took 4 months.

Hang in there everyone it is worth it

Think if life as a book (hopefully a nice book) its another chapter, time to move on and hopefully to happy times.

Yes it is sad (I will be sad too I have spent 17 tears in this house, and raised 2 kids and a cat ;))

Congratulations on the completion hope everything turns out right

Good luck Toto. I cried buckets on leaving our house of 14 years - I think the removal men thought I was completely mental!!! But here I am, 7 weeks later and its becoming a distant memory...I'll never forget it but I'm making this house my home now. xx
