diagnoses. do i need to call to update

hi all

very short question as still feeling low with various issues going on.

Do I need to update disability guys over the phone to let them know about a disgnosise my child had in july 2011. Has been disnosised but am still away with lots of fairies in the sky.

    Unless the care or mobility needs have changed - or you are currently appealing, and the diagnosis would be useful to the appeal - as I understand it, no.

    I'm not sure this applies to DLA like it does IB, but an appeal tribunal can only consider the situation at the time of the benefit refusal, not anything which has occured in between.

    Personally I always keep the DWP informed of any changes in health, from a change in meds to diagnosis.

    legally you may not need to.

    But i did, glad i did because my esa appeal the phone call i made was bought in.
