Asda Smart Price Sausages

I used to buy these sausages often as they were cheap and they were nice tasting. I haven't brought them for a while. But on friday i decided to get a packet. Got home, made a sausage sandwich and god they were awlful. They were like rubber. I could have bounced them off the wall. The cat is now eating them as there's 12 in a pack.

What the hell as Asda done to them?

You should be prosecuted for being cruel to the cat !

Honestly what did you expect ? I would not buy ASDA top of the range sausages let alone Smart Price !

Butcher made or Debbie & Andrews Harrogate sausage is all I will buy .

The only value meat/fish I will buy is Sainsburys Basic tinned tuna. Everything else is awful.

These have always been nice. Some of the expensive ones are awlful and far too much money. I won't be buying them again
  • Is this the value/smartprice/basic sausages that are like 25-30% meat? No wonder they aren't very nice!! I only buy sausages that are 90% meat or higher - it's a false economy otherwise.
  • Only place for theese in our house would be the dogs - we
buy the italian ones from Costco :)
  • My totally food obsessed dog won't even eat value sausages! I know money can be tight but butcher bought sausages are so much yummier, and there's no sinew or rind in the ingredients like there is in the value ones.

I think they are in the low 40's.

I think they have to be at least 40% to be called a sausage.

Anything can be called a sausage as long as it is sausage shaped, how else would you explain vegetarian sausages?

The % rule applies to whether the can use the word pork/beef on the wrapper, 42% for pork (although to be classed as meat, the Pork can contain 30% fat and 25% connective tissue.) and 30% for beef and other meats.
