Phone dead, internet working?

I'm curious as to what has caused this.
The internet is down to half its normal speed and the line attenuation has gone up by around 6db.
Openreach diagnostics say that the fault is near or at my place.
2-3 working days to sort it!

Phone line dead, I suspect the 50volt feed has gone but havn't checked it.
Line attenuation normal 46db, now 52db.
Sync usually 8mbps, now 4mbps.

We,ve had some torrential rain in the last 12 to 18 hours.
If I had to guess, I'd say a thorough soaking has pushed an already failing joint over the edge.

yep, probably in the first junction box outside your house, they seem to be very susceptible to poor joints. Same happened to me last year, when OR looked the first JB was full of water
